From Harvard psychologist, Dan Gilbert’s book, Stumbling upon Happiness, “We as human beings are works in progress that mistakenly think they’re finished.” This resonates with Michael. He believes that health and wellness is an evolving process and is never static. Michael comes to Premier Fitness hoping to help clients improve quality of life and performance.
Michael graduated from the University Nevada in Las Vegas with a degree in Biology and Kinesiology. He knew he wanted to pursue a career as a medical professional. Michael related to the evidenced based, hands on approach in Physical Therapy. He graduated with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University in Orange, California. From there he went on to work in multiple outpatient orthopedic settings. Early on in his career, he felt that there was a big piece missing with the standard of patient care. Quickly he grew disillusioned with the lack of patient centered care. This led him to look outside of the “big box” healthcare organizations and search for more meaningful work. Enter Premier Fitness Systems. The ability to spend quality time with the client without administrative interference is something Michael values.
Michael has studied multiple disciplines from multiple fields and combines a movement based, mindfulness philosophy to wellness and rehabilitation. It’s all about the fundamentals and educating the client on spatial awareness. An individual must first be able to breathe, roll, and crawl with ease before higher levels of athleticism are facilitated. Michael’s manual therapy background is similar to his training. He believes in a “sniper approach” to what is ailing the client or limiting a desired movement. Michael enjoys working with all levels of athletes and clientele. He has worked with neurologically impaired children, adults with spinal cord injuries, to high-level athletes. Michael also has a passion for working with juniors. He believes in creating an athlete first and a well-rounded base.
